ENGAGEMENT & PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER IN BARCELONA
Capturing your love story on film in one of the world's most romantic cities. Surprise proposals, engagement sessions, and couple portraits across Barcelona and the Costa Brava.
Planning a proposal in Barcelona? Dreaming of engagement photos in the Gothic Quarter at sunrise? Or simply looking for a beautiful way to capture your time together in this incredible city?
I'm Olya, a film photographer based in Barcelona specializing in engagement sessions and surprise proposals. Over the past decade I've photographed hundreds of couples across this city — from secret proposals at Park Güell to golden hour sessions along the Mediterranean coast. I know every hidden corner, every perfect light, and every quiet street where you can have a moment entirely to yourselves.
My work is captured entirely on analog film, creating images with a warmth, depth, and timelessness that digital cannot replicate. When you look at your photos in 20 years, they won't feel dated — they'll feel like heirlooms.
Spring and summer 2026 dates are booking now — limited availability remains for April, May, and June.
ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS IN BARCELONA
An engagement session with me is not a posed photoshoot — it's an experience. We spend 2 hours exploring one or two of Barcelona's most beautiful locations at a relaxed pace, and I capture the connection between you as it unfolds naturally.
I guide you through the session with gentle direction — where to walk, how to hold each other, where to look — but the goal is always authenticity. Couples consistently tell me they forgot I was there. And that's exactly when the best images happen.
Every session is shot entirely on medium format film (Contax 645 and Pentax 67). Film captures Barcelona's warm stone, golden light, and Mediterranean blues with a luminosity and depth that creates images you can feel.
What's included:
2 hours of film photography
1–2 Barcelona locations (planned together in advance)
Location scouting and timing recommendations
Outfit consultation and style mood board
100+ professionally edited, high-resolution film images
Private online gallery delivered within 2 weeks
Enhancement options available: Super 8 film video, content creator for social-ready vertical clips, additional locations, hair & makeup coordination.
SURPRISE PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHY IN BARCELONA
A surprise proposal only happens once. My job is to make sure every second is captured — without your partner knowing I'm there.
Here's how it works:
Before the day: We connect by email or WhatsApp to plan every detail. I help you choose the perfect location and time based on light, crowd levels, and the kind of atmosphere you're looking for. You'll receive a detailed plan with exact meeting point, maps, visual signals so we recognise each other, and a step-by-step timeline. I handle everything so you can focus on the moment.
The moment: I position myself discreetly at the location before you arrive. I blend in — no one will know I'm there. I capture the approach, the moment you get down on one knee, the reaction, and the emotion that follows. These are the images couples treasure most.
After "yes": Once the surprise is out, I introduce myself and we continue with a relaxed 30–60 minute engagement session at the same location (or nearby). This is when we capture the beautiful, composed portraits — the ring detail, the embraces, the joy. You'll have both the real, raw proposal moment and the polished engagement portraits.
I've photographed proposals at Park Güell, the Gothic Quarter, rooftop terraces overlooking Sagrada Familia and Gothic Quarter, private sailboats, and restaurants across Barcelona. If you have a dream location, I can help you make it happen.
MY FAVOURITE ENGAGEMENT LOCATIONS IN BARCELONA
After a decade of photographing couples in this city, these are the locations I return to again and again:
GOTHIC QUARTER — Medieval streets, the Cathedral, Pont del Bisbe bridge. Best at sunrise when the city is empty and the light is pure gold.
PARK GUELL— Gaudí's mosaic terraces, panoramic views, colourful architectural details. Book the first entry slot for near-private access.
MONTJUIC & MNAC — Grand staircase, gardens, sweeping views of the city and port. Perfect for couples who want a more editorial, cinematic feel.
SAGRADA FAMILIA rooftop — Private terrace with the basilica towers glowing at sunset. One of the most romantic proposal spots in Barcelona.
LABYRINTH OF HORTA — Barcelona's secret garden. An 18th-century cypress maze far from the tourist routes where you may have the entire park to yourselves.
EL BORN — Narrow streets, Santa Maria del Mar, independent boutiques. The most relaxed, lifestyle-focused neighbourhood for couples who want their photos to feel like a real experience.
BARCELONETA BEACH — Empty at sunrise, soft pink and gold light on the water. Perfect for barefoot, sun-drenched sessions.

BEYOND BARCELONA: COSTA BRAVA & MALLORCA
For couples who want something completely different from the city, the Costa Brava coastline is just an hour from Barcelona — and some of my very best work has been shot there.
MARIMURTRA BOTANICAL GARDEN, BLANES— A clifftop garden with ancient cypress paths, a stunning Linnaeus temple, and Mediterranean views that feel like another world.
CADAQUES — The whitewashed fishing village where Dalí chose to live. Intimate, artistic, and the most romantic hidden gem on the Costa Brava.
MALLORCA — Sunset sailboat proposals in Port de Sóller, clifftop sessions in Deià, and the stunning beauty of the Tramuntana mountains.
As a Barcelona engagement and proposal photographer, I help couples plan romantic, stress‑free surprise proposals in Costa Brava and Mallorca with timeless, luminous photographs.
WHAT MY COUPLES SAY
Olya didn't just photograph the proposal — she helped me plan everything. From finding the perfect spot to guiding me on timing and how to make it feel natural, she thought of everything. Hannah had no idea. The photos are incredible — you can see the real surprise, the real tears. I couldn't have pulled it off without her.

Olya doesn’t just take beautiful photos; she devotes herself to every step of the process. From mood boards and detailed planning to scouting locations for the best light and least crowds, she is the most organized photographer I’ve ever worked with. Even when things go wrong—rainstorms, or 40°C heat—her calm, positive energy makes you feel that everything is possible and lets you truly enjoy the shoot. If you’re wondering whether to book Olya, my answer is simple: you can trust her completely with your day, and you’ll be thrilled you did when you see your photos.

Choosing Olya to photograph our Mallorca proposal and Costa Brava engagement session was the best decision we made. She planned every detail with us from afar, kept the surprise perfect, and made us feel completely relaxed in front of the camera. The photos are romantic, natural and full of emotion — we’ll treasure them forever.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I book an engagement or proposal session?
Start by filling out the contact form with your preferred dates, locations you're interested in, and a bit about what you're imagining. I'll reply within 24 hours with availability and a detailed guide to help you plan. A 50% retainer secures your date exclusively; the balance is due 7 days before the session.
How far in advance should I book?
For spring and autumn sessions (the most popular months), I recommend booking 2–3 months ahead. For surprise proposals, the more planning time we have the better — but I've successfully arranged proposals with as little as one week's notice.
Can you help plan a surprise proposal?
This is one of my favourite things to do. I help with location selection, timing, logistics, visual signals, and backup plans. You'll receive maps, meeting point photos, and a step-by-step timeline. On the day, I arrive early, position myself discreetly, and capture everything — you focus entirely on the moment.
What time of day is best?
Early morning for empty streets, soft golden light, and the most privacy. Late afternoon (2 hours before sunset) for warm golden hour light. I plan every session around the specific locations to get the best possible conditions.
What if it rains?
Rain in Barcelona is rare but never a reason to cancel. Some of my most atmospheric images were captured on overcast or rainy days — the soft light is beautiful on film. We always have a backup plan, and if conditions are truly impossible, we reschedule at no extra cost.
Do you only shoot film?
Engagement and couple sessions are captured 100% on analog film. For weddings, I use a hybrid approach — film for portraits and key moments, digital for fast-paced moments and low light. For engagement sessions, film is the perfect medium.
What should we wear?
I send every couple a detailed style guide after booking. In general: timeless, elegant clothing in soft neutral tones — creams, whites, light blues, sage greens, blush. Flowing fabrics work beautifully on film. Avoid busy patterns, logos, and neon colours.
Do you travel for engagement sessions?
Yes — I regularly photograph sessions across Spain and Europe. In addition to Barcelona and the Costa Brava, I've shot engagement sessions in Amsterdam, Mallorca, Toledo, Seville, and beyond. Travel fees apply for locations outside Barcelona.
