WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IN FRANCE
Destination weddings across Paris, Provence & the Côte d'Azur — shot on Kodak Portra
France is where romance becomes real — and after years of photographing across the country, I know its light in a way that changes how your images look. The golden warmth of a Parisian afternoon through Haussmann windows. The lavender-filtered haze of a Provençal summer at 7pm. The crystalline Mediterranean brightness of the Côte d'Azur at midday. Each region has its own light, and I've learned how to use every one of them on film.
I travel to France regularly throughout the year — from grand hotel celebrations in Paris to intimate vineyard weddings in Provence and sun-drenched ceremonies on the Côte d'Azur. My work here has been featured in French Wedding Style, and I've been a guest on The Paris Wedding Show podcast. These aren't just credits — they reflect a genuine relationship with the French wedding community that I've built over years.
I shoot on Kodak Portra and Ilford Delta, developed by Carmencita Film Lab — and on French stone, in French light, these film stocks do something extraordinary. If you're planning a wedding in France and want a photographer who knows these places as well as she knows her cameras, I'd love to hear from you.
WHY FRANCE FOR YOUR WEDDING
France offers more variety than any other country in Europe — grand Parisian hotels, Provençal châteaux, Riviera clifftops, Loire Valley castles, Bordeaux vineyards. And the infrastructure is exceptional: world-class planners, florists, and caterers who understand luxury without pretension.
For couples travelling from the UK, the US, Australia, or elsewhere in Europe, France is exceptionally accessible. Paris is a major international hub, and the high-speed TGV train connects the capital to Provence in just three hours, to the Riviera in five, and to Bordeaux in two. This makes multi-day celebrations easy — welcome dinner in Paris, wedding in the countryside, farewell brunch by the sea.
Iconic France Locations for Wedding & Engagement Photography
France spans an extraordinary range of landscapes and atmospheres. Here are the locations I return to again and again:
PARIS
The most romantic city in the world needs no introduction — but for wedding photography, it is endlessly rewarding. The architecture of the Marais, the sweeping views from the Tuileries, the golden stone of Place Vendôme, the quiet elegance of Palais-Royal, the Seine at golden hour — every corner offers something extraordinary. Paris is ideal for elopements, engagement sessions, and grand hotel celebrations. I've photographed a full wedding at The Westin Paris Vendôme and know the city's most photogenic locations — from iconic landmarks to quiet courtyards off Rue de Rivoli that most visitors walk right past.
PROVENCE
Lavender fields, olive groves, honey-coloured stone villages perched on hilltops, and a quality of light that painters have chased for centuries. Provence is the heart of the French wedding industry — home to some of the most sought-after châteaux and domaines in Europe. The Luberon, the Alpilles, the Var, and the hills around Aix-en-Provence all offer extraordinary settings for intimate celebrations and multi-day wedding weekends. The warm, golden afternoon light here is among the most beautiful I’ve ever photographed on film.
THE FRENCH RIVIERA & CÔTE D’AZUR
From the glamour of Saint-Tropez and Cap Ferrat to the pastel-coloured old towns of Nice, Antibes, and Menton — the Riviera is where Mediterranean luxury meets effortless French style. The light here is crystalline and bright, the sea an extraordinary shade of turquoise, and the clifftop venues offer some of the most dramatic backdrops for wedding photography in all of Europe. I travel to the Riviera every summer and know the coastline — from the tourist stretches to the quiet coves and clifftop terraces where the light is extraordinary and the crowds are gone.
LOIRE VALLEY CHÂTEAUX
The châteaux of the Loire Valley are among the most magnificent wedding venues in the world. These Renaissance castles — surrounded by formal gardens, forests, and the gentle Loire River — offer a grandeur that is uniquely French. It's a region I'm eager to photograph — if you're planning a Loire Valley wedding, I'd love to make it happen.
BORDEAUX & THE SOUTHWEST
One of the world’s great wine regions, Bordeaux offers vineyard châteaux, elegant 18th-century architecture, and the rolling countryside of the Dordogne and the Basque coast. It is a wonderful choice for couples who love wine culture and want a celebration that feels relaxed, sophisticated, and deeply rooted in French terroir.
NORMANDY & THE NORTH
For a more intimate, atmospheric celebration, the countryside of Normandy offers thatched-roof manor houses, apple orchards, dramatic coastal cliffs, and a moody, romantic light that is completely different from the sunny south. It is particularly beautiful for autumn and early spring weddings.
Wedding Venues I Know and Love in France
The Westin Paris Vendôme
A grand Parisian hotel overlooking the Tuileries Garden, with gilded ballrooms and red-lined salons that exude regal intimacy. I photographed Angela & Sylvian’s Chinese-French cultural fusion wedding here — a celebration that blended heritage with Parisian grandeur in the most beautiful way. This wedding was featured in French Wedding Style.
Provençal Châteaux & Domaines
Provence is home to hundreds of extraordinary wedding venues — from grand châteaux with formal gardens to intimate stone farmhouses among the olive groves. I photographed a destination wedding at Bastide de Toursainte, near Aix-en-Provence — a celebration surrounded by cypress trees, fairy lights, and the golden Provençal light that made every frame feel like a painting. This wedding was featured in Style Me Pretty. Each venue in Provence offers a different character, but they all share the same extraordinary landscape that makes this the most popular wedding destination in France. If you are still choosing your venue, I can advise on locations that photograph beautifully on film.
Parisian Cafés & Restaurants
Some of my favourite engagement sessions and intimate celebrations in France have taken place in Parisian cafés and restaurants. These locations offer a deeply authentic, relaxed Parisian atmosphere — marble tables, candlelight, vintage details — that photographs beautifully on film.
Château de la Gaude — Your hero image is from here but there's no mention of it in the venue list. Add it: "A magnificent estate near Aix-en-Provence with formal gardens, ancient stone, and the kind of Provençal light that Kodak Portra was made for. One of my favourite venues in the South of France.
Engagement Sessions & Couple Portraits in France
Paris is one of the finest cities in the world for an engagement session — and the rest of France isn't far behind.Whether you’re celebrating a proposal, a honeymoon, an anniversary, or simply want beautiful photographs of the two of you in an extraordinary city, I offer sessions across Paris and beyond.
I shoot most engagement sessions entirely on film, creating images with a soft, nostalgic quality that feels like pages from a European love story. Sessions typically last 1.5–2 hours and include a relaxed walk through one or two of the most photogenic locations — from the quiet courtyards of the Marais to the golden light of the Tuileries at sunset.
For couples combining a Paris trip with their engagement session, I also offer Super 8 vintage video — adding a cinematic, nostalgic layer to your story that feels perfectly Parisian.
Film Photography in France
The light in France was made for film. Kodak Portra renders Parisian limestone, Provençal lavender, and Riviera turquoise with a warmth and depth that digital can't match. I photograph using a hybrid approach — medium format film for portraits and key moments, digital for fast-paced coverage — with every roll developed by Carmencita Film Lab.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a wedding photographer in France?
Most couples book 8–12 months before their wedding, especially for peak season in France (May–October). Provence and the Riviera in particular fill up quickly for summer weddings. I shoot a limited number of destination weddings per year to give each couple my full attention, so I recommend reaching out as early as possible — even if you are still finalising your venue.
Do you travel from Barcelona to France for weddings?
Yes. I’m based in Barcelona and travel to France regularly throughout the year — Paris, Provence, the French Riviera, and beyond. Barcelona to Paris is a short flight or a direct train, and the south of France is even closer. Travel fees are included in my France wedding collections, so there are no surprise costs.
What does a destination wedding photography collection for France include?
My collections for France weddings start at €3,800 and include full-day coverage with a blend of medium format film and digital photography, a pre-wedding consultation with a curated mood board, and a beautifully edited online gallery with high-resolution downloads. Most couples investing in luxury destination wedding photography in France allocate €4,000–€8,000 for comprehensive coverage. Super 8 vintage video and second photographer options are also available.
Can I book an engagement or couple session in Paris?
Yes. I offer standalone engagement sessions, couple portraits, proposal coverage, and honeymoon sessions across Paris. These are typically 2 hours, shot on medium format film, and include a relaxed walk through one or two of the city’s most photogenic locations. I also offer Super 8 vintage video as an add-on, which adds a cinematic, nostalgic feel that is perfectly Parisian.
Which region of France is best for a destination wedding?
It depends on the experience you want. Paris is ideal for grand hotel celebrations and intimate elopements with an iconic city backdrop. Provence is perfect for vineyard weddings, château celebrations, and outdoor receptions with extraordinary light. The French Riviera suits couples who want Mediterranean glamour and dramatic coastal scenery. The Loire Valley offers fairytale châteaux with formal gardens. Bordeaux is wonderful for wine-loving couples. I’m happy to advise based on your style, guest count, and vision.
Do you shoot weddings on film in France?
Yes. I photograph all my weddings using a combination of medium format film and digital cameras. Film gives images a soft, warm, timeless quality that is especially beautiful in the French light — whether it’s the golden afternoon glow of Paris or the lavender-filtered haze of a Provençal summer. I shoot on Kodak Portra and Ilford Delta, developed by Carmencita Film Lab in Valencia.
What's the best time of year for a wedding in France?
June, September, and early October are the sweet spot — warm, sunny, and golden. July and August are beautiful but hot in the south, and Provence in particular gets very busy. May is gorgeous in Paris and the Loire. For couples who want something different, autumn in Normandy or the Dordogne can be extraordinary — misty mornings, golden leaves, and a completely different mood on film.
