Most proposal photographers here are vacation photographers: one location, a quick shoot, photos the next morning. I plan every detail before the day. Most proposal photographers in Barcelona arrive, find an angle and shoot. I already know the light at the exact hour of your proposal, the precise spot where you should stand, and where I will be so the moment stays private and beautifully lit. For the Costa Brava and new locations, I scout in person beforehand — sometimes more than once.

I shoot on analog film. Every proposal I photograph is captured on medium format film — Contax 645 and Pentax 67. This is not a filter or a preset. It is real film, developed and scanned at Carmencita Lab in Valencia, one of Europe's finest. The result is a depth, warmth, and luminosity in your skin and in the stone and sea around you that digital cameras do not produce. Your proposal photographs will not look like anyone else's. They will look like heirlooms from the moment you receive them.

I guide the whole experience — not just the photography. From the moment you message me, I become your partner in planning. Which location suits her personality? What time gives you privacy and the best light? Where exactly do you stand? What do you do with your hands? How do you get her there without suspicion? My most requested proposal location — and for good reason.

The Barri Gòtic is a labyrinth of narrow medieval streets, hidden courtyards, and centuries-old stone that feels removed from the modern city entirely. At sunrise — before the cafés open and the tourists arrive — the streets are almost empty. The low morning light filters through the ancient passages in a way that film renders extraordinarily: warm, directional, full of shadow and depth.

For a proposal, the Gothic Quarter offers something no other Barcelona location can — natural, effortless intimacy. The narrow streets mean I can position myself around a corner, completely invisible, while you walk through one of the most beautiful places in Europe. The Pont del Bisbe, Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, the quieter streets behind the Cathedral — I know exactly where each works best depending on the time and the light.

Best time: Sunrise, any day. Weekday mornings are the quietest.

A fully private proposal, with the most recognisable building in Barcelona as your backdrop.
 

For couples who want privacy above everything else, I work with a small number of rooftop terraces near the Sagrada Família — arranged privately, not open to the public or to other photographers. No crowds, no strangers in the background, no waiting for a gap between tour groups. Just the two of you and the towers, close enough to feel their scale, at any hour of the day you choose.
 

Sunrise is when the light is at its warmest and the terrace is entirely yours. The towers catch the first gold of the morning, the city below is still quiet, and there is nowhere to hide once you're down on one knee — which is exactly the point.
 

Best time: Sunrise. This location requires an additional venue fee or booking at the hotel.
 

This location works well paired with: Park Güell for a second-location portrait session later the same morning — the light, the mosaics, and the columns make for a completely different, equally beautiful second chapter.

Iconic Gaudí — at its most extraordinary before the crowds arrive.

The mosaic terraces, the sweeping city views, the Mediterranean in the distance — Park Güell is one of the most visually extraordinary places in Europe. The key, as with so much in Barcelona, is timing. I recommend the very first entry slot at opening. At that hour the serpentine bench, the Hypostyle Hall columns, and the panoramic terrace feel almost entirely yours. The free zones surrounding the monumental area also offer winding garden paths and quiet viewpoints that work beautifully for a more relaxed, unhurried approach.

Best time: First entry slot at opening or last hour of opening. 

Cliffside gardens above the sea — my most enthusiastic recommendation.

Perched above the Costa Brava in Blanes, Marimurtra is the location I recommend most warmly to couples who want their proposal to feel completely removed from the ordinary world. Ancient cypress-lined paths, a clifftop Linnaeus temple with sweeping views over the Mediterranean, warm stone terraces, and over 4,000 plant species in a setting that feels like another century.

On a weekday morning you may have entire sections of the garden almost entirely to yourselves. The elevated terraces offer natural privacy for the proposal moment, and the sea below provides a backdrop that is simply breathtaking. I discovered Marimurtra while scouting and knew immediately it was rare — the scale, the intimacy, the quality of Mediterranean light on stone and water. Film renders it beautifully.

Best time: Morning in spring or early autumn — the garden is in bloom and the light is at its finest. One hour from Barcelona by car. Italian Renaissance gardens cascading toward the Mediterranean.

Designed in the early 20th century in the style of Italian Renaissance gardens, Santa Clotilde descends in terraced stone staircases toward the sea — cypress trees, classical sculptures, sea views, and an atmosphere of complete stillness. It is dramatic without being overwhelming, and private in a way that Barcelona locations simply cannot be.

The lower terraces look directly out over the Costa Brava coast. The upper paths wind between sculpted hedgerows and offer hidden corners that feel entirely your own.

For a proposal with architecture, poetry, and the Mediterranean as a backdrop — there is nowhere quite like it.

Best time: Morning on a weekday. Quiet, soft-lit, unhurried. One hour from Barcelona by car.

Some of the most extraordinary proposal moments I have photographed have happened far outside Barcelona. If your story takes you somewhere else — I will be there.

Mallorca Clifftop proposals at Son Marroig above the sea, sailboat proposals at sunset in Port de Sóller, intimate moments in the ancient olive groves of Deia. Mallorca has a quality of light and a sense of romance that is almost impossible to describe — and analog film renders it better than anything else. Alhambra, Granada The Nasrid Palaces at dawn — before the first tour group arrives — are one of the most breathtaking proposal settings in Europe. Intricate Moorish geometry, ancient reflecting pools, and a stillness that feels like another world. I handle all professional photography permits for the Alhambra as part of the booking, so you arrive with nothing to organise and everything already in place.

Seville The Real Alcázar gardens, the Plaza de España at golden hour, the rooftop terraces of the old city overlooking the Giralda. Seville rewards couples who are willing to start early — the light in the hour after sunrise here is extraordinary, and the most iconic locations are completely empty. I know exactly when and where.

Portofino & the Italian Riviera The harbour at Portofino, the clifftop villages of the Cinque Terre, the terraced lemon gardens above the Amalfi Coast. Italy offers proposal settings of almost painful beauty — and the Mediterranean light that analog film was made for. Travel within Barcelona is included. In-person scouting before the day is part of The Experience (€1,400).

How far in advance should I book?
Two to four weeks for weekday proposals, four to eight weeks for weekends. The weeks around Christmas, New Year and Valentine’s Day book first. If your proposal is next week, write to me anyway — I will do everything I can to make it work.
 

Is winter a good time to propose in Barcelona?

One of the best. The sun rises late, around 8:15 in December, so a sunrise proposal in the Gothic Quarter doesn’t mean a 5am alarm. The streets are quiet, the light stays low and golden all day, and film renders it beautifully.
 

How do you stay hidden?

I arrive before you and take a natural position — a tourist sitting nearby, someone passing through with a camera. We agree on a simple visual cue beforehand, so I know exactly when you are about to reach for the ring. Neither of you will notice me.
 

What if the weather is bad?
We retime or move to a covered backup — I have one for every location I work in. A grey sky on film can be more beautiful than a blue one. If it is truly unworkable, we move the date.
 

Do you help choose the location?
Yes, completely. I suggest options based on who you both are, the time of day, the season and how private the moment needs to be.
 

Why does film take two weeks?
Every roll is developed and scanned by hand at Carmencita Film Lab in Valencia before I begin editing. It’s the reason the photographs look the way they do.
 

Can this lead into an engagement session?
Absolutely. Many couples extend the session on the same day, or book a separate engagement session at another location later.
 

Can you photograph our wedding too?
Yes — and many of my proposal couples come back for exactly that. Your proposal investment can be credited toward a wedding collection, so the photographer who captured your yes is there for your vows too.

A proposal happens once. The photographs last forever.
