ENGAGEMENT SESSION IN CADAQUES, COSTA BRAVA — A HIDDEN GEM NEAR BARCELONA

When C&M started planning their engagement session, they searched for locations that felt romantic, authentic, and utterly unique. After exploring countless options across Spain and the Mediterranean, they chose Cadaqués — and the moment they arrived, they understood why this hidden gem on the Costa Brava has captured the hearts of couples, artists, and travelers for generations.

Cadaqués is unlike anywhere else on the coast. Tucked behind the mountains of Cap de Creus, this whitewashed fishing village feels completely untouched by time. Salvador Dalí chose to live here for a reason — the light is extraordinary, the pace is slow, and the beauty is effortless

The beauty of Cadaqués is that nearly every corner is photogenic, but these are my favourite locations for couple sessions:

The harbour and waterfront at golden hour, when the fishing boats and pastel reflections create a painterly backdrop that film renders with extraordinary warmth. The whitewashed streets of the old town, where narrow alleyways and bougainvillea-draped doorways offer natural framing and complete privacy. The Church of Santa Maria perched above the village, with panoramic views across the bay. And for the adventurous, the rocky coastline towards Cap de Creus, where the raw Mediterranean landscape creates dramatic, wind-swept images unlike anything you will find in the city.

What I love about Cadaqués is how naturally romantic it is. There is no need for elaborate styling or complicated setups — the village itself does all the work. You walk, you explore, you stop for a coffee at the harbour, and every moment photographs beautifully.

The best months are April through June and September through October. Spring brings wildflowers along the coastal paths, warm light without the summer heat, and very few tourists. By July and August, Cadaqués fills up considerably and the narrow streets become harder to photograph in.

I recommend late afternoon sessions starting 2–3 hours before sunset, which allows time to explore the village on foot and finish with golden hour at the waterfront. The light in Cadaqués at sunset — reflected off the white walls and the still water of the bay — is unlike anything I have seen anywhere else in Spain.
