SEVILLE HONEYMOON PHOTOGRAPHY | FILM COUPLE SESSION IN ANDALUSIA

Lan and Jason chose Seville for their honeymoon. Not Paris, not Rome — Seville. And if you know Seville, you understand immediately why. The city has a particular quality that is difficult to photograph badly and almost impossible to forget: warm stone, Moorish architecture, narrow streets that open without warning into grand sunlit plazas, and a light in the late afternoon that feels like it was designed specifically for film photography.

Lan is Vietnamese, Jason is American. They had just gotten married and wanted something more than vacation snapshots to remember their time in Andalusia — they wanted photographs that felt as significant as the trip itself. That's exactly what film photography does. It slows everything down, makes every frame deliberate, and produces images that feel like memories before they've even faded.

We spent their last afternoon in Seville together — through the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, along the ceramic alcoves of Plaza de España, into the quiet courtyards that most tourists never find. The result was published on Wedding Sparrow, and it remains one of my favourite sessions ever shot in Spain.

Why Seville is Perfect for Honeymoon Photography

Lan and Jason's session is a reminder of something I see more and more: couples from Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, and across Asia who choose Spain — and Andalusia specifically — for their honeymoon or pre-wedding photography. And Seville, it turns out, is extraordinary for this.

The architecture here is unlike anywhere else in Europe. The Moorish influence — the intricate tilework, the horseshoe arches, the layered geometry of the Alcázar — creates backdrops that feel genuinely exotic and romantic in a way that more familiar European cities don't. For couples who have already seen Paris, Seville feels like a discovery. For couples photographed on film, it looks like a dream.

I'm based in Barcelona and travel regularly throughout Spain, including Seville, Granada, and the wider Andalusia region. If you're planning a honeymoon photography session, a pre-wedding shoot, or a couple session in Spain and you're traveling from Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, or elsewhere in Asia — I'd love to hear from you. I work with a small number of couples each year and photograph exclusively on analog film, which means our session will be unhurried, personal, and nothing like a tourist photo.

Seville is three hours from Barcelona by train, or a short flight. It can easily be combined with Barcelona, Madrid, or Granada for a longer Spain itinerary — and I'm happy to advise on locations and timing for any of these.

Best Photo Locations in Seville for Couples

Plaza de España
Undoubtedly Seville's most iconic location, this stunning Renaissance Revival plaza offers endless photographic opportunities. The semicircular building, ornate bridges, and ceramic-tiled alcoves create a theatrical backdrop that feels both grand and intimate. We love photographing couples in the early morning or late afternoon when the crowds thin out and the light is softest.

Santa Cruz Neighborhood (Barrio de Santa Cruz)
The former Jewish quarter is a maze of narrow streets, whitewashed buildings, and flower-filled balconies. This is where Seville's true character shines through—intimate, romantic, and utterly charming. The play of light and shadow in these winding streets creates beautiful contrast for film photography.

Alcázar Gardens
For couples seeking lush, romantic gardens with Moorish architecture, the Real Alcázar is unmatched. The manicured gardens, tranquil fountains, and historic palace create a fairytale setting. Note: This location requires advance booking and has photography restrictions in certain areas.

Guadalquivir River
The riverfront at sunset offers sweeping views and a more relaxed atmosphere. The Triana Bridge and Torre del Oro provide architectural interest, while the golden hour light reflecting off the water creates magical conditions for romantic portraits.

Hidden Courtyards
Some of Seville's most beautiful moments happen in tucked-away courtyards and quiet plazas. These intimate spaces allow couples to relax and connect without the pressure of tourist crowds—resulting in the most genuine, tender photographs.

Why Film Photography for Your Seville Engagement Session

Film photography and Seville are a perfect match. The medium's organic grain, rich colors, and timeless quality mirror the city's historic charm. Unlike digital photography, film captures light in a way that feels romantic and nostalgic—exactly the emotion you want to preserve from your honeymoon.

For Lan and Jason's session, I shot primarily on Kodak Portra 400, which renders Seville's warm tones beautifully. The film's subtle grain and natural color palette create photographs that feel both contemporary and timeless—images that won't look dated in 20 years.

Film also changes the pace of a photo session in the best way. Instead of shooting hundreds of digital images, we focus on meaningful moments, intentional compositions, and genuine connection. This slower, more thoughtful approach results in photographs that feel more authentic and less posed.

The result? A collection of images that capture not just how Seville looked, but how it felt—the warmth of the Spanish sun, the intimacy of quiet streets, the joy of celebrating your love in one of Europe's most romantic cities.

Engagement Photography Throughout Andalusia

While Seville was the highlight of Lan and Jason's honeymoon session, Andalusia offers countless other stunning locations for couples photography:

GRANADA The Alhambra and Albaicín neighborhood provide dramatic Moorish architecture and sweeping mountain views.

CORDOBA  The Mezquita and flower-filled patios create an intimate, historic atmosphere.

RONDA  Dramatic clifftop views and the iconic Puente Nuevo bridge offer breathtaking backdrops.

WHITE VILLAGES (PUEBLOS BLANCOS)  Charming hilltop towns like Frigiliana and Zahara de la Sierra provide authentic Andalusian character.

I'm available for destination photography sessions throughout Andalusia, Spain, and Europe. Whether you're planning a multi-day engagement or honeymoon adventure or a focused session in one location, I'd love to help you preserve these precious moments.
